I kinda like Google translator. It's easy to use and quick. Though sometimes not really accurate, but you get the essence of things. But using it to translate an interview with a lesbian I discovered that google translator is full of prejudice!
I was translating this sentence: Hun er stolt av kjæresten (she's proud of her girlfreind). The Norwegian word kjæreste can mean both girl- and boyfreind. It's the same with the Danish word kæreste. It's a genderneutral word so if I talk to someone and they ask if I have a kjæreste they would not be able to tell whether I'm gay or straigh (given they had absolutely no gaydar...).
But Google translator automatically assumed since it's a she it had to be a boyfriend. I tried it the other way around. With a han (he) and google telles me he's got a girlfreind.
*Sigh*
