And so it's Christamas. The gifts have been wrapped (girlfriend), the house is clean as ever (me and girlfriend), the plastic fantastic tree is decorated (girlfriend), Sheryl Crow is playing x-mas tunes on the stereo (me). And before I say happy holidays I'll share my all.time favorite Christmas carol.

What would Bette Porter do? Part III

Bette Porter was told to write a paper on Security Politics.

She wrote 250 pages about how Jenny Schecter is a threat to the entire neighborhood, the city of Los Angeles and all lesbians on planet earth.

It Gets Better...

I don't know if you've heard of the Trevor Project. Well, you should . "The Trevor Project is determined to end suicide among LGBTQ youth by providing life-saving and life-affirming resources including our nationwide, 24/7 crisis intervention lifeline, digital community and advocacy/educational programs that create a safe, supportive and positive environment for everyone."

And as a result of the Trevor Project there is also the It Gets Better Project. Alot of heart warming videos have surfaced the web. Even President Barack Obama has his own It Gets Better video.

But my favorite so far is this one from the fantastic crew at Pixar.

And it does get better! It's a scary place to be. And coming out to your parents and family is seldom easy. And yes they might have trouble accepting it in the beginning, or maybe at all. But your family isn’t your entire world. There are people out there who've been there, and gotten through it. And I'm sure a lot of us wouldn't be the same today without that experience. It makes us what and who we are. And I'm sure we're more able to deal with everyday life because of it. Hang in there!

Women who scare me

Halloween' just been here. And even though we shouldn't celebrate it, Norwegians has adapted the festivities. In the spirit of Halloween I'd like to present å list with real-life women who scare me.

First out is Nina Karin Monsen (born 29 May 1943 in Bergen) is a Norwegian moral philosopher and author. You might remember her from Outrage over Freedom of Expression Award.

Second one up is the rising star in the Tea Party movement. Christine Therese O'Donnell (born August 27, 1969) is the Republican Party nominee in Delaware's 2010 U.S. Senate special election, which will be held on November 2, 2010. She opposes abortion, including in cases of rape and incest

Third, another Norwegian on the list. Siv Jensen (born 1 June 1969) is a Norwegian conservative-liberal politician, and the current leader of the Progress Party. She was the Progress Party's candidate for Prime Minister in the 2009 parliamentary election. I've told my girlfriend we can't be together if she votes for the Progress Party....

Last but not least, Sarah Louise Palin (born February 11, 1964) is an American politician, author, speaker, and political news commentator. Came to my attention when presidential candidate John McCain in August 2008 chose her to be his running mate in that year's presidential election. At the inaugural Tea Party convention in Nashville, Tennessee Palin said the Tea Party movement is "the future of politics in America.

And this, my friends scare the hell out of me. A group of loose canons in politics with power within reach!

What to write about?

Yeah yeah.
Right now I should be at the library to find a theme for my bachelor paper. Wonder if I can write about the gayest detective show ever [Rizzoli & Isles]. I guess not, since I'm studying Foreign Politics and Security Policy...

Well well. A girl can dream

Rizzoli & Isles
My paper is due in Desember. So I'll procrastinate some more.

DADT, again...

If you follow the webpages I follow, you've probably already read about Katherine Miller, a former Cadet at United States Military Academy at West Point. This week she resigned from West Point due to to Don't Ask, Dont Tell. Meaning Miller is a lesbian, and all she wanted to do was to serve her country. But now she won't.

Miller said "I have created a heterosexual dating history to recite to fellow cadets when they inquire. I have endured unwanted approaches by male cadets for fear of being accused as a lesbian by rejecting or reporting these events. I have been coerced into ignoring derogatory comments towards homosexuals for fear of being alienated for my viewpoint. In short, I have lied to my classmates and compromised my integrity and my identity by adhering to existing military policy,..."

Cadet Miller on the Rachel Maddow Show

As a fellow lesbian Cadet, in a country that doesn't care if you're lesbian, gay or straight, I'd like to express my deep respect for Cadet Miller. You are officially my new hero! And I hope you manage to overturn DATD soon so that you'll be able to serve your country.

And it makes me sad that as I start my last year as a Cadet tomorrow, Cadet Miller won't be able to complete hers.

"Like"

I am, in fact a big Facebook whore. But this great sociale network is starting to annoy me more and more. Well, it's not Facebook per se. It's more the people using it...

People never cease to surprise me when it comes to what they reveal in their status updates. And I'm often surpised (read: shocked) when it comes to what some people regard as interesting for others to know. I've noticed that those with children are in a leauge of their own... John did this, John did that, John we love you, John no longer uses daipers. Blah blah blah.
- Save it for the grandparents!

But what the hell is up with the "like" flying around Facebook? For example: "Grandpa passed away last night. I miss you already. Love you" And few minutes later some moron presses "like".
What is it exactly that you like? Jeez! Condole and say you're sorry like the rest of the world, don't "like" something just because it there's a button for it.

Jerk.

A scene from Paradise Hotel...

Paradise Hotel, well I guess you know the concept, is currently airing i Norway. And as usual stupid youngsters compete in being drunk, sex fixated and ridiculous.

This year a bisexual woman was casted to make it "interesting". Any way that's not the point. A couple of nights ago two girls almost had sex. Again, not the point...

Here it is. What's wrong with this picture?

picture from some webpage

What the fu¤% is up with the shoes? I'd like to quote The Real Girl's Guide to Everything Else: we're the real kind, not he porn kind.

What would Bette Porter do? Part II

picture from l-word.com

She told him about cubism...

Le guitariste

What would Bette Porter do?

Yesterday I was out having a beer with my girlfriend. A choir happende to be there after having completed a performace in a church. All fine and well. But after a while they started singing and it was annoying as hell!

And it came to me! What would Bette Porter do?

Picture from bebo.com

My guess is she would get up, walk over and tell the chior that this wasn't good enough culture for her precious Angelica's ears and tell them to shut the f*** up!

What do you think? I bet she could kick Chuck Norris' ass!

It's DADT time in the US of A

Meaning they're going through the Don't ask, don't tell policy initiated by the Clinton administration in 1993. Earlier this week we heard former US General John Sheehan blame the Massacre in Srebrenica on the gays in the Dutch military.

Today I woke up to find this tweet from CNNbrk (CNN breakning news) "Gays and straights shouldn't share quarters, Marine Corps commandant says"

While we're at it why don't we make gays sit in the back of the bus and drink from different waterfountains. It could be contagious! Who knows how many I recruited/contaminated back in Basic Military Training.

Hey! Where's my toasteroven???

Rødt, hvitt og skrått

Update: sorry about the broken links. They are no available abroad.

Rødt, hvitt og skrått (Red, White and Queer), is both a book and a four episode documantary about being gay in Norway.

You can watch the episodes her (hopefully).

"En annerledes barndom" (A different childhood) is about childhood, growing up and feeling different, falling in love with a person of the same sex, being afraid of being "discovered" and the same many experience.
http://www1.nrk.no/nett-tv/klipp/592470

"Ut av skapet og ut i verden" (Out of the closet and out in to the world) is about how young men and women emigrate to bigger cities as "sexual refugees". It also deals with the though process of coming out of the closet as gay or lesbian.
http://www1.nrk.no/nett-tv/klipp/596799

"Den vanskelige kjærligheten" (The difficult love) is about gay and lesbian couples who've been together for a long time. This episode also deals with the ones who've tried to make it even more difficult for same-sex couples over the years. The episode also adresses HIV/AIDS and the church.
http://www1.nrk.no/nett-tv/klipp/600004

"Mangfold" (Diversity) is about the diversity in the gay and lesbian community. Lesbians and gays are not one uniform group. We meet young and old, feminists, bears, dragqueens, the queers and a transgender person.
http://www1.nrk.no/nett-tv/klipp/602334

All episodes are in Norwegain with no subs. But maybe you'll need to study up on your Norwegain skills (you of cause know about all the hot
Norwegain lesbians)

What can I say... I liked it.
